ABSTRACT
Objectives:
One of the dimensions of state security is ecological security - a matter of such significance that it is addressed by the framers of the constitution. The obligation to ensure ecological security requires state authorities to take comprehensive measures to provide the environment with appropriate protection. This entails not merely current environmental policy, but a long-term approach that ensures future generations can enjoy an environment in at least as good a condition as the present one. The responsibility to care for the environment lies not only with public authorities but also with citizens and business entities. It is also worth noting the principle of sustainable development, which mandates a responsible approach toward the environment, particularly in the context of conducting business activities.
Methods:
The article employs a comparative legal method and a theoretical-legal method to analyze issues related to ensuring ecological security.
Results:
State policy must take ecological security into account - a requirement that also stems from Poland’s membership in the European Union, which regards environmental protection as one of its core European values. Caring for the environment is not limited to immediate actions; it must be long-term in nature, ensuring ecological security for both present and future generations.
Conclusions:
The environment is one of the constitutional values subject to legal protection. Ensuring ecological security is primarily the responsibility of the state, and in particular, of public administration. Obligations regarding environmental protection have also been imposed upon citizens; consequently, ecological security also depends on them.
