Mission and aims of the journal
The mission of “Cybersecurity and Law” is to advance and disseminate interdisciplinary knowledge in cybersecurity and the law of new technologies. By publishing rigorous, research-based articles, the journal supports the development of a secure, informed and responsible digital environment. Our priority is to bring together the academic community, practitioners, public institutions and the private sector to jointly develop competencies and solutions that address the challenges of the contemporary world.
“Cybersecurity and Law” provides a forum for exchanging opinions and perspectives and presenting research findings on security in its broadest sense and the law of new technologies.
History
“Cybersecurity and Law” was established in 2019 as an initiative of the Academic Centre for Cyberspace Policy, operating within the War Studies University, with the aim of creating an independent platform for exchanging knowledge on information security, the law of new technologies and digital threats. At the time of its establishment, it was one of the first periodicals in Poland devoted entirely to cybersecurity policy, featuring both scholarly analyses and expert commentary informed by the practice of state institutions and the private sector.
From the outset, the position of Editor-in-Chief was held by Professor Katarzyna Chałubińska-Jentkiewicz, who gave the journal a clear research focus combining legal, strategic and social perspectives. Under her leadership, the journal became a venue for regular publications on digital law and data protection, information warfare and disinformation, critical infrastructure security, new technologies (AI, IoT, blockchain), national and NATO cyber defence, and electronic media regulation.
The editorial team collaborated with universities, military experts and international institutions, enabling the journal to attract a broad network of regular authors and reviewers.
Over the years, “Cybersecurity and Law” has become an important means of disseminating knowledge about cyber threats and shaping public policy. The journal has been cited on numerous occasions in scholarly publications and studies on national security.
