ABSTRACT
Objectives:
The purpose of this article is to characterize "sharenting," outline the potential dangers it may pose to children, and formulate recommendations that parents can use. However, the text is not intended solely for mothers and fathers.
Methods:
The research employed literature review methods and secondary research based on the analysis of existing data.
Results:
It can be concluded that the objective of the article has been achieved and the research problem addressed. On this basis, it is evident that there are numerous risks associated with the presentation of children’s images on social media. The identified connections and relationships between "sharenting," a child’s experience of shame, and parental guilt demonstrate a lack of awareness regarding children’s rights to privacy, the nature of risks in cyberspace, as well as a deficiency in empathy and imagination.
Conclusions:
It is therefore worth investigating, in the future, how the role of schools in providing education on online safety influences the development of "sharenting," particularly given the current absence of formal programs specifically addressing this practice. Furthermore, it is essential to conduct extensive research in this area and to expand educational initiatives - both for parents, to foster appropriate parenting attitudes, and for children, to inform them of their rights. A research gap has emerged that must be addressed in future studies.
