ABSTRACT
Objectives:
The aim of the article was to demonstrate the information-related security threats currently being generated by the Russian Federation in the digital space.
Methods:
The research methods employed in the preparation of this publication can be divided into empirical methods and theoretical methods.
Results:
Addressing the research problem, it can be stated that the use of trolls appears to be the primary method employed by the Russian Federation to generate information-related threats within the digital sphere, with the aim of destabilizing security through disinformation activities carried out in that space. In addition to this method, the use of "fake news" was also observed. The research objective also appears to have been achieved.
Conclusions:
First, the history of Russian disinformation, both as a form and as a tool used to destabilize the security of a given entity, spans at least several centuries.
Second, to effectively counter the spread of information-related threats and Russian disinformation, which the Kremlin employs as a means of destabilizing security, increasingly within the digital sphere, it is essential to conduct a thorough analysis of the website or digital publication in question, as well as to verify the authenticity of the references cited by the entity disseminating the information.
Third, it is necessary to implement highly sophisticated digital tools designed to automatically detect and flag false visual and multimedia content.
Fourth, there is a pressing need to raise awareness regarding which types of content, information, messages, or digital products are most likely to reach, or be sought out by, specific target audiences, and to consider the potential consequences such messages or products may have on the security of a given entity.
